Topwijn van de familie Folonari, eigenaar van deze 50 ha grote wijngaard in Chianti. Een dieprode wijn die is gebaseerd op het verrassende samenspel van de Italiaanse Sangiovese- en de Franse Cabernet Sauvignondruif, en die opgevoed is in Franse eikenhoutenvaten. Kruidige aroma’s van rijp rood fruit en een bijzonder krachtige, genereuze smaak die lang nablijft. Doordat deze rode wijn naast 70% Sangiovese- ook 30% Cabernet Sauvignon-drui-ven bevat, mag hij niet de herkomstbenaming Chianti dragen. Vandaar dat deze wijn tot de ‘Super Tuscans’ gerekend wordt.

Het wijngoed
The Folonari family has worked in the wine making sector since the end of the 1700's. In 1912 Italo Folonari, the grand father of Ambrogio Folonari, together with his brother Francesco, bought the Ruffino company, well known at the time for the Chianti wine, characteristically packaged in flasks. In 2000 Ambrogio left the Ruffino company and the rest of the family, and together with his son started the “Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Estates”, keeping some of the best lands. In such a way, a group of companies was founded in one of the most suitable vine areas of Tuscany: Tenuta di Nozzole and Tenute del Cabreo (in Chianti Classico), Campo al Mare (Bolgheri), La Fuga (Montalcino), TorCalvano (Montepulciano), Vigne a Porrona (Maremma)
